Mag Hag

While everyone else is loving their magazines, i'm loving Neo2. Neo2 has been my must have hard copy magazine for years now. it's a spanish magazine that puts everyone in southern europe (and maybe me and a few other north americans) in the know about fashion, design (all fronts), music, books, and the art scene in spain. First and foremost, the fashion spreads that come out of this magazine are visual fireworks. They feature many designers who will probably only be on the fashion radar on this side of the globe in 1 or 2 years. They're design section is a confetti display of all the new concept work coming out all over the world. They also focus on art gallery openings and the artists works. They give us their perspectives on the indie bands we're listening to now. The sexiest part of the mag is that it's only printed in spanish (used to have a complete english translation section but that's been long abandoned). I've recently discovered as well that with each hard copy issue you receive, a code is provided to download the latest font found on their cover... Fonts make me wiggle. If you can find a diverse enough mag shop, pick up a copy, its total goodness.

the return of the lady

if you're a Vogue-obsessed fashion hound than this posting can be ignored because it's probably old news for you. when i first had the visual pleasure of seeing the photo shoot done by steven meisel for italian Vogue (december 2oo7), the part of my heart that i previously thought was just a faint heart beat fluttered out almost bursting... for the first time in a very long time. can this photo spread be any indication of what is to come for fashion in spring 2008? please tell me that in a few months i will only remember this last year in woman's fashion as a fleeting memory of oversized tunics (a.k.a. glorified moo-moos), box-cut dresses, and post-mod meanderings in androgynous fashion. please tell me that once a again we will see beautifully feminine prints, accentuated waist lines, and flattering hem-lines.
